Maximize Automatic Oilers and Automatic Greasers
Many new lubricators are set up with a 10% overlap. This "safety margin" is simply wasted lubricant dollars. Additionally, most conveyor manufacturers like to generously lubricate new conveyors to assure a smooth break in. Unfortunately, few facilities ever adjust the lubricator to the proper setting. Businesses today need to save anywhere they can. Fine tuning of automatic oilers and automatic greasers is a highly skilled talent, generally obtained by years of experience. Many conditions are taken into the equation including speed, temperature, exposure to water or steam, amount of turns, take up pressure, number of inclines/declines and type of lubricant. Lubratech Solutions can maintain proper lubrication on your equipment, yet eliminate waste. With Lubratech Solutions extensive knowledge of conveyors, automatic oilers, automatic greasers, machinery, lubricators, lubricants and industries, we can maximize your lubricant dollars to give you sustained savings. With our Maximize group of services we squeeze every cent of lubrication out of each drop of lubricant. We will take on the challenge that others avoid. Most automatic oilers and automatic greasers are considered "properly adjusted" when they are over lubricating your conveor chain by 10%! This is regularily found on Opco and Lubriquip lubrication systems. Moreover, some installers add an additional "safety margin" to avoid repeated adjustment. Some people have even told us, "That's what the drip pans are for." We at Lubratech Solutions know differently. Lubricant on the floor or in the drip pans is simply wasted dollars. Even worse, it can contaminate product or create safety hazards. If you are using dry film type lubricant such as Lubecon or Mightylube, you can have even more waste. Since dry film lubricants are usually over 85% carrier, that evaporates quickly. It is difficult for most people to realize when these conveyors are over lubricated because they appear dry. Dry film lubricated conveyors can literally be over lubricated by several hundred percent before it is grossly noticeable that they need adjustment. Dry film lubricated conveyors can be over lubricated by 10%, 20%, 30% or more for years and go unnoticed. Many brands of dry film lubricators supply "free" service when you purchase their oil. So why would you need Lubratech Solutions? Unfortunately, since many of those other sales-service representatives also make commissions on the oil that is sold to the plant, they may be tempted to apply a little extra lubricant to boost their income. Lubratech is only concerned with maintaining your automatic oilers and automatic greasers, minimizing your lubricant usage and performing within plant policy. An often overlooked effect of using dry film, is that over 85% of the lubricant is volatile organic compounds (VOC's) which get released into your plant's environment as the carrier in the oil evaporates and becomes dry film. Over lubricating with dry film oils is not only wasteful, but it needlessly contaminates the environment of your facility.
With our Maximize Group of services, we ensure that your lubricant dollars are well spent yet provide ample lubrication. We consider lubricator type, lubricant, speed, stress, amount of turns, tightness of turns, amount of inclines/declines, temperature, environment and preset settings. Then each automatic oiler or automatic greaser is specifically set up to apply lubricant for that specific need. Then we compare this information to the readings to the hundreds of conveyor profiles that we have in our proprietary database. This gives us a reasonable starting point. Lubratech will then closely monitor each conveyor to gradually zero in on the proper lubrication amount with no risk of incurring additional wear or torque outs. There are five important steps to our Maximize Program. Analyze the needs of your equipment, align the lubricators to assure full usage of lubricant, implement the changes that are needed, allow the lubricators to run 30 days with the new setting and recheck the condition. Lubratech Solutions will work closely with your preventive maintenance group or report directly to management. Easy Tell Tale SignsIf you notice lubricant in drip pans, drips on the floor under the conveyor chain, or drips under inclines or declines of your conveyors, your lubricators need adjustment. If you have to empty drip pans on a regular basis, you are throwing away your lubricant dollars and your lubricators seriously need adjustment. Conversely, if you see "dust" on the floor in the pans under your end sprockets, by your take ups or if your conveyor surges or pops, your lubricators need adjustment. This "dust" is your conveyor chain wearing. Lastly, if you have access to the settings on your lubricators, we urge you to examine the pass count settings. If you have a lot of different conveyors with a setting of 200, 150, 100 or any number that is the same, there is a high likelihood that these are not maximized. Lubratech Solutions provides these different maximize programs:Maximize Level 3This is a one time adjustment that yields significant savings yet allows a moderate safety margin in case of changing conditions. Maximize Level 2This level requires three months of consecutive visits and quarterly visits thereafter. This allows Lubratech Solutions to zero in on the needs of equipment. This level provides excellent savings and provides a slim safety margin in case of changing conditions. Maximize Level 1This level requires monthly visits. It will not only allow Lubratech Solutions to finely hone the lubrication to your exact needs, but will also confirm that all automatic oilers and automatic greasers are properly adjusted. Since lubrication is at a very accurate level, it is imperative that all units be inspected on a monthly basis. This level will provide the maximum amount of savings, yet ensure that your equipment is properly lubricated.
