Conveyor chain wear monitoring is the most comprehensive method of determining the condition of conveyors and confirm that existing lubrication cycles are satisfactory and your automatic lubrication equipment is functioning. This device is temporarily mounted on the conveyor to obtain readings. A magnetic slug is installed on the conveyor chain to determine a starting point and stopping point of the readings. The conveyor chain wear monitor will then record the wear of every foot of the conveyor chain. This information can then be downloaded into a personal computer as a file. The program will display an overview report of the length of the conveyor, the least and most worn areas of the conveyor and it provides a variable set point to allow you to bring attention to worn areas above your setting. Also the reading for every foot can be examined. This is an excellent tool, not only to monitor wear but also to discover if there are any "soft" or defective pins in your system. The conveyor chain wear monitor can even automatically mark problem areas on your conveyor with spray paint to allow your maintenance group to easily find troubled areas.
